Server BIOS, OS & NIC Tuning for WanGuard
Against short, pulse-type DDoS attacks, precise low-level tuning decides how fast WanGuard reacts. ITORO tunes the BIOS, Linux kernel and network cards so the Sensor sees every packet and the Filter scrubs at line rate — on commodity hardware, without over-spending.
What ITORO delivers
- BIOS tuning: power profiles, C-states, NUMA and PCIe settings for deterministic packet capture.
- Linux kernel and OS tuning: IRQ affinity, ring buffers, CPU isolation, hugepages.
- NIC tuning and DPDK setup on supported Intel/Mellanox cards for line-rate capture.
- Validation under synthetic load so the gains are measured, not assumed.
How it works
DPDK bypasses the kernel network stack to read packets straight off the NIC, which is what makes sub-5-second detection possible. But it only works when the BIOS, cores, memory and card are configured correctly. We get high performance from modest hardware, keeping your capital outlay low.
